The average Voting Percentage is 26.7% for members in Industry

Members in service enrolled during 2021 were 1,453 out of which 629 have polled clocking 43.3% maximum voting percentage

# 3 From Counting Venue - Evening 6 pm

Counting Update # 19

Out of 32 (satellite ballot boxes) + 438 (ballot boxes); so far 24 satellite ballot boxes are opened and tallied with voted polled. 

Remaining 8 + 438 ballot boxes are yet to be opened and tallied

Maximum Postal Ballots 722 was received in Southern Region only. Other Regions (west, east, north and central) 200 to 300 postal ballots were only received 

Postal ballots valid votes will be announced tomorrow 

Candidates present in counting venue: Central Council - 3 nos; Regional Council - 4 nos

Counting Theme: Slow & Steady ...........

By today satellite ballot boxes will be opened and tallied. Tomorrow 438 ballot boxes will be opened and tallied







What is a Satellite Polling Booth? - # 2 From the Counting Venue

Counting Update # 18

Satellite Polling Booth refers to any of the 171 Polling Booths in Southern Region where the members of other region may exercise his/her voting rights by casting vote in that booth.

There are 32 such Satellite Polling Booths in Southern Region. 

Since anywhere voting is first time implemented, tallying the votes casted in satellite polling booth has taken additional time for the officers present in Counting

# 1 From the Counting Venue

Counting Update # 17

No of Postal Ballots Received on time (10th December 2021) = 722

Postal Ballots are opened and verification process going on

No of Polling Booths = 171

No of Ballot Boxes = 171 x 2 = 342

Anywhere Voting: Other Regions Ballot Boxes are opened and ballots are reconciled with polled data (where other region voters voted in Southern Region)

Two Central Council contestants and Three regional council contestants are present. Others present are representatives of the contestants

Only one representative of the contestants are allowed to enter the counting venue

Mobile phones and Laptops are allowed inside the counting venue

Southern Region Ballot Boxes will be opened ONLY after other regions ballot boxes are opened and reconciled

Ballot Boxes Opening Today - Step-by-Step Process

Election Update # 16

ICAI Elections 2021 - Ballot Counting Process - Step-by-Step

Step 1: Opening the ballot boxes which is safely kept in counting venue transported from 171 polling booths across Southern Region

Step 2: Reconcile the count of ballot papers after opening the ballot boxes with the polled count and then verifying the valid ballots

Step 3: This election year other Regional constituency polling were allowed in Southern Region Polling Booths. Such Ballot papers will be first tallied with polled count and sent today to respective counting venue of regional offices of ICAI

Step 4: Opening the Postal ballot from the postal covers received till 10th December 2021 and verifying validity

The above steps probably be completed by the end of the day (16th December 2021)





Step 5: The valid ballots (after excluding the invalid votes) from Polling and valid ballots (after excluding the invalid votes) from Postal will be added together along with tendered votes if any to arrive at Total Valid Votes cast (for Central Council and Regional Council Separately)

Step 6: Before going to next step; polling officer will give an opportunity to the candidates present / representatives of the candidates present to go-through the invalid votes (of-course without touching it)


Step 7: After getting the valid votes cast; the next important step is fixing Quota as given in the below mentioned droop quota formula


The above steps probably be completed by the end of the day 2 (17th December 2021)
